About Us

Our Story

Stamp City was started in 1992 by Phil & Glenys Given in their modest unit at 157 Pah Road, Epsom. In 1996 the business was moved from the home situation to a business premises at 499 Manukau Road, Epsom. Shortly after the move they purchased the Trotec Laser Engraver, which allowed them to expand the business into name badges and small signage. This laser was specifically designed to cut rubber dies for stamps, but in the true Kiwi spirit, Phil and Glenys adapted the machine to cut many other items.

In early 1999, Warren & Deidre New bought Stamp City Epsom. Phil stayed on for a while and taught Warren all he knew. Phil & Glenys then went off into retirement up in the Winterless North.

In July 2001 Stamp City moved from 499 Manukau Road to 6/2 Claude Road, Epsom and then in February 2015 to its current location at 56A Princes Street, Onehunga.  The business still concentrates on Stamps (Business, Personal, Crafting and Tattoo), small signage (up to 400 mm x 300 mm), Name Badges, Wax seals, Embossing Presses, General Laser Engraving (Non Metallic) and repairing stamps.  Near the end of 2018 we bought a sublimation printer, so now we can print a wide range of products too.

We are proudly owned and operated by Kiwi’s and are a friendly crew. Customers are always welcome to drop in, call or email us. Sometimes it is easier for us to show you how a stamping solution can suit your application.

If you have a stamping requirement, contact us, as we are the experts. If it can be done with a stamp, we can do it for you.

Our Products

Trodat Stamps:

We mainly use the Trodat brand, as they are the biggest stamp manufacturer in the world and have the best range of products. We find that Trodat and the New Zealand importers are very easy to deal with and their products are dispatched to us the same day as they are ordered, meaning we can generally supply our customers within our two day turnaround time.

Shiny Stamps:

We can also supply the Shiny brand, as they are a cheaper alternative for our customers. The New Zealand importers are also easy to deal with and their products are usually dispatched to us the same day as they are ordered, meaning we can generally supply our customers within our next day turnaround time.

Stamp pads & Inks:

We use the Trodat & Shiny brand stamp pads and the Trodat & Noris brand inks.

The stamp pads come with a standard ink colour of black, blue, red, green or violet.

The Trodat inks come in the same standard colours.

The Noris inks come in a range of colours not available in other brands and they have a raft of specialty inks for different applications.

Remaking Stamps:

We can remake your existing self inking stamp by replacing the rubber die and inkpad, this means around half the cost of buying a complete new stamp as long as the stamp you have is still in good order.

To remake a stamp all we need is the 2 or 4 digit number off the front of your existing stamp and the new text you require.

Embossing Presses:

We use the Shiny brand of embossing presses and they come in 4 sizes, hand held, small desk top, medium desk top and long reach.

The dies are made of magnesium and although a bit more expensive, last a very long time and give a good quality impression.

If you need to emboss thicker paper then please advise at the time of ordering so we can get the dies made especially for that thickness.

Engraved Name Badges & Signs:

We use a high quality engraving plastic that is suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

The plastic has a front colour and a back colour and the engraver removes the front colour to expose the back colour giving a two colour badge or sign.

Name badges come standard with a pin but for a bit extra we can use a magnetic clip instead.  We can apply a glaze finish for a better look.

Signs can have holes cut out for affixing or we can apply a very strong double sided tape.  Nameplates can be made to fit aluminium extrusions when they need to be changed often.

Sublimation Printing:

We have a high quality colour printer and a heat press that can sublimation print a range of different products.

We can print your photo, logo or text in full colour.

We can also print name badges with full colour logo and text.

Please note that printed colours don’t always look the same as they do on screen, as different screens will display the same colour differently.

If you have a colour you need to match then the RGB, CMYK or hex code for that colour is needed for an exact match.
